IDELIX Put to Test at the 2005 Coalition Warrior Interoperability Demonstration
Pliable Display Technology by IDELIX to be assessed by analysts and warfighters in international counter-terrorism scenarios

June 10, 2005 - Vancouver, BC – IDELIX Software Inc. announced that its Pliable Display Technology (PDT) will be assessed during the 2005 Coalition Warrior Interoperability Demonstration (CWID), taking place in countries such as the United States, Canada, United Kingdom, Australia and New Zealand during the month of June. Sponsored by the US National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency (NGA) and backed by Canadian Joint Intelligence Information Management (J2IM), the PDT user interface will be featured within the IAS client server architecture from RSI, a wholly owned subsidiary of ITT Industries, and Black Coral’s collaborative GIS solution, Black Coral LIVE.

CWID is an annual interoperability exercise sponsored by the US Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff. The focus of this year’s exercise is the global war on terrorism. CWID will provide first responders, intelligence analysts, military operators and combatant commands exposure to the latest C4ISR (command, control, communications, computers, intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance) technologies and interoperability solutions. Participants will conduct trials to assess technologies that solve interoperability challenges and that can be transitioned into operational use within 6-12 months following the demonstration.

"CWID participants will test the capabilities of PDT and assess how this technology improves situational awareness and data dissemination," said IDELIX COO, Keith Ippel. "Through CWID, analysts and warfighters will be given the opportunity to experience, first-hand, the PDT-enhanced IAS Viewers and Black Coral LIVE solution within an operational environment. The direct feedback will be invaluable to IDELIX and will help define the direction of our ongoing product development."

PDT will be featured as a user interface enhancement, incorporating focus+context viewing and JPEG 2000 data streaming techniques into the RSI IAS Viewer and IAS PDA Viewer. The IAS client server architecture leverages the wavelet compression capabilities of JPEG 2000 and offers the delivery of large geospatial images in seconds, even over constrained bandwidths. The streaming of higher resolution data will be controlled through the PDT lens interface; only additional data for the region of interest being shown within the PDT lens will be fetched from the server to the IAS Viewer. The use of PDT within IAS makes this an ideal solution for the delivery, compression, storage and visualization of geospatial imagery at the analytical and tactical level.

PDT will also be showcased in Black Coral LIVE, a commercial-off-the shelf GIS solution that provides a unified system of geospatial and imagery intelligence data sharing. Black Coral LIVE fuses digital maps, space-borne classified and commercial imagery, intelligence, sensor feeds, and live updates to create a common "situation picture". It then enables team members to edit and share changes in the "situation picture" simultaneously. Black Coral has integrated PDT into Black Coral LIVE to facilitate adjustable focus+context magnification and multi-layer viewing functionality on digital maps, imagery and multi-layer data sets fused within the solution. For CWID role players using Black Coral LIVE, PDT will provide faster warning and response times, improved situational awareness, and effective filtration and presentation of information pulled from multiple data sets.

IDELIX will also be demonstrating Pliable Display Technology within the IAS Viewers and Black Coral LIVE at the USGIF and NGA sponsored Technology Day held at the Hyatt Regency in Reston, Virginia, from 9am-6pm, June 10th.
