Former CAE President and Prime Ministerial Chief of Staff Joins IDELIX Board of AdvisorsDerek H. Burney to lead IDELIX into CAD, digital imaging, modeling and simulation markets
November 24, 2004 - VANCOUVER, BC - IDELIX Software Inc. announced today that Derek H. Burney, the former President of CAE Inc. and Prime Ministerial Chief of Staff, has joined the visualization software company's Board of Advisors. Mr. Burney will advise IDELIX as the company gains momentum in new markets such as digital imaging, computer aided design (CAD), modeling and simulation.
"IDELIX is made up of great people making great technology," commented Mr. Burney. "Pliable Display Technology® (PDT®) has already enhanced the visualization of analysts, warfighters and first responders through its integration into various defense and intelligence software solutions. This intuitive user interface will also play an important role in CAD, modeling and simulation applications as the efficiencies gained by its integration can significantly reduce training times and the time required to deploy systems."
PDT by IDELIX is a user interface enhancement that pushes the boundary on current visualization software functionality. The technology provides improved situational awareness by allowing decision makers to identify, visualize and interact with important detail within an image, without losing sight of the surrounding information.
"Derek brings tremendous experience and expertise to the IDELIX Board of Advisors," noted IDELIX President and CEO, Bijan Sanii. "His guidance will play an important role in accelerating our success in the defense and intelligence markets and will move us closer to achieving our objective of establishing IDELIX PDT technology as an information visualization standard in this sector. We also look forward to working with Derek in our efforts to establish PDT in new market sectors including CAD, digital imaging, modeling and simulation."
From October 1999 to August 2004, Mr. Burney was President and Chief Executive Officer of CAE Inc., a leading provider of integrated training solutions, advanced simulation and controls technologies to international civil aviation, military and marine customers.
