Science World British Columbia Launches Innovative Equity Program
Working Opportunity Fund and IDELIX Software Inc. first to sign on

Vancouver, B.C. - February 17th, 2003 - Today Science World announced the formal launch of an innovative fund raising strategy aimed at the equity held in British Columbia technology companies. This program contributes to the development of sustainable, long term funding for Science World and is indicative of major changes in Science World including on-going gallery renovations and infrastructure improvements.

To date, Vancouver based IDELIX Software Inc. and the Working Opportunity Fund (WOF), managed by GrowthWorks Capital Ltd., are leading the corporate sector in making commitments to Science World for this initiative. Through this support, both companies hope to help Science World deliver first class science programs and exhibits, foster budding science and technology entrepreneurs and accelerate the expansion of the knowledge based economy in British Columbia.

"This initiative is not just about raising money. It's an important vehicle for our corporate leaders to build an emotional connection with this unique B.C. facility," said Bryan Tisdall, Science World's President & CEO. "To our knowledge a fund raising program of this kind is a first in Canada and clearly demonstrates the entrepreneurial style of our board and senior management."

The Science World equity program provides companies with equity giving options including: the granting of stock options, the donation of shares for a tax credit, and an equity pledge, which enables a company to make cash donation based on future growth.

WOF shareholders approved the creation of a charitable program which includes future donations to Science World and other approved charities of a portion of the growth of the securities held in small and medium sized B.C companies in emerging sectors like Information Technology, Life Sciences and Advanced Manufacturing. The actual dollar figure of this future donation will be an amount equal to the increase of the value of the .5% of the securities of companies in WOF's portfolio after implementation of the program. In short, if a portfolio company grows in value so will the amount of the charitable donation to Science World.

David Levi, President & CEO, GrowthWorks Capital Ltd., said, "WOF's shareholders clearly see the value of this initiative and are pleased to support this program. Many of the companies WOF invests in are founded in science and technology and Science World works to strengthen this foundation directly through education and inspiration."

"BC's future is being built on a knowledge-based economy," says Science World Board Chair, Dr. Ken Spencer. "Technology is the fastest growing sector of our economy and we have a role to play. Our mission is to engage youth at an early age to help them realize that science is cool, and that there is an exciting future in sciences, engineering and technology."

IDELIX Software Inc. agrees with this perspective and the company's management and shareholders have committed by giving 50,000 options at $0.70 per share to Science World.

"For years, Science World has been sparking the imagination of youth and demonstrating how science and technology can be fun," says Bijan Sanii, President and CEO of IDELIX. "They have now sparked the imagination of companies such as IDELIX, and we are excited to have the opportunity to support their vision through this innovative fundraising effort."

The equity program is an integral part of Science World's $20 million ReGeneration plan and was initiated in response to Science World's increasing connection with B.C's science & technology community. All equity donations made within the parameters of the equity program are tax deductible and each contributor is provided a tax receipt equal to the fair market value of the donation at the time the donation is made. Key members of the Science World Board of Governors developed the equity program.
