Former Vice Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Joins Advisory Board of IDELIX Software Inc.
US Admiral Bill Owens lends endorsement to the PDT™ product within the Aerospace/Defense industry

Vancouver, British Columbia – October 22, 2002 – IDELIX™ Software Inc. announced today that former Vice Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff US Admiral Bill Owens has joined the visualization software company's Board of Advisors. Admiral Owens will advise IDELIX on its business development efforts in the homeland security, aerospace, government and defense markets.

Bill Owens is currently the co-CEO of Teledesic, a satellite company funded by Bill Gates and Craig McCaw that is building a broadband satellite-based global Internet and communications network. Prior to his position at Teledesic, Owens was the President, COO and Vice Chairman of Science Applications International Corporation (SAIC). From 1994 to 1996, he served as Vice Chairman of the US military's Joint Chiefs of Staff, the second-highest ranking military officer position in the country. Prior to that, he served as the Deputy Chief of Naval Operations for Resources, Warfare Requirements and Assessments, as well as Commander of the United States Sixth Fleet and Senior Military Assistant to Secretaries of Defense Frank Carlucci and Dick Cheney. Admiral Owens is currently an active member on the Board of Advisors for the National Imagery and Mapping Agency (NIMA).

"It is an honor to have Bill Owens on our Advisory Board. His endorsement of Pliable Display Technology™ gives us the confidence to move forward in the aerospace and defense markets," said IDELIX President and CEO, Bijan Sanii. "His experience and insight will play a key role in our understanding of and success in the defense market."

Described as a 'futurist' by Pentagon insiders, Admiral Owens is a strong proponent of technology solutions and building smarter defense systems. "It is not mass, it is dominant knowledge that is most important to our military success and capability to be flexible and responsive," explains Owens. "IDELIX Software Inc.'s Pliable Display Technology (PDT) is an example of commercially developed technology that can increase the precision and efficiency of the military. PDT surpasses existing methods for viewing and interacting with data in increasingly complex digital environments. The ability to pinpoint detailed information while maintaining a complete view of the region of interest is technology that is important across many military, government and commercial applications."

According to a recent case study, the integration of IDELIX's PDT into Boeing Autometric's leading-edge KDSP™ and Softplotter® photogrammetric products has resulted in +20% efficiency gains for end-users. The US Department of Defense has recognized these efficiency gains and selected Boeing's high-end package, SoftPlotter, for use in transforming satellite imagery to support mapping and intelligence missions.

The PDT Software Development Kit features an open API that can be easily integrated by Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) and Systems Integrators within their leading applications. IDELIX recently released a new version of the PDT SDK (2.1 beta) as well as the PDT 3d SDK beta, a new application of Pliable Display Technology for viewing and interacting with three dimensional models and large complex assemblies on the local PC and the Internet. Current market opportunities for PDT include: Government & Defense, Digital Image Processing, Geographic Information Systems & Remote Sensing, and Computer Aided Design.
