Advanced Numerical Methods Secures $2,250,000 in Venture Capital FundingPreparing to Launch Revolutionary Software to Enhance Viewing of Digital Content
Vancouver, British Columbia - December 12, 2000 - Advanced Numerical Methods Ltd. (ANM) announced today the closing of the company's first round of venture capital financing. The company raised Cdn$2,250,000 to expand product development and marketing of its proprietary visualization products and technologies. This financing was led by Discovery Capital Corporation, with participation by Fractal Capital, and several private investors.
ANM offers a revolutionary solution for viewing digital content on desktop and portable electronic displays. ANM's Pliable Display Technology (PDT) addresses screen "real estate" problems associated with presenting large amounts of information on a limited size display. PDT solves the inefficiencies and information-loss experienced with existing zoom and pan technologies.
PDT is a hardware platform- and software application-independent technology that is easily integrated. Markets for PDT include Digital Imaging, Geographic Information Systems & Remote Sensing, Medical Imaging, and Handheld and Wireless Devices. Each of these areas are estimated to be multi-billion dollar markets, with accelerating growth rates.
"ANM has developed truly ground-breaking software technologies that dramatically improve how electronic information is visualized in a number of targeted application areas, and on the multitude of devices being introduced with shrinking screen sizes. We are very much looking forward to working with ANM in developing and executing on their deployment and partnering strategies," said Randy Garg, Executive Vice-President of Discovery Capital Corporation, and Director of ANM.
"Discovery Capital has a proven track record for growing high-tech companies," says Dr. David Baar, CEO of Advanced Numerical Methods. "ANM's unique detail-in-context viewing and editing products take visualization to a new dimension, and we look forward to capturing the significant market opportunity that exists for our proprietary software technologies.''
