Affiliations and Programs
ACM SIGGRAPH serves 6,015 members promotes the generation and dissemination of information on computer
graphics and interactive techniques. Their purpose is to foster a membership community whose core values
help to catalyze the innovation and application of computer graphics and interactive techniques.
ACM SIGCHI, the ACM's Special Interest Group on Computer-Human Interaction, brings together people
working on the design, evaluation, implementation, and study of interactive computing systems for
human use. ACM SIGCHI provides an international, interdisciplinary forum for the exchange of ideas
about the field of human-computer interaction (HCI).
BC Technology Industries Association (BC TIA) is a not-for-profit, member-funded organization that
represents the technology industry of British Columbia. Its diverse membership encompasses companies
in all sectors of technology ranging from BC's most prominent technology companies to early-stage and
SME's. As the largest and most influential technology association in the province BCTIA provides the
leadership, connection and action needed to foster the continued growth and success of the technology
industry in BC.
The Canadian Association of Defence and Security Industries (CADSI) is a not-for-profit national
business association that represents the Canadian defence and security industries. Formerly the Canadian
Defence Industries Association, CADSI represents over 430 member companies selling to the defence and
public security markets. CADSI member companies are of all sizes and offer a wide spectrum of goods
and services to its customers, and to business partners in Canada, the United States, and internationally.
NewMedia BC was launched in June 1998 through combined funding from IRAP/NRC, the Telus New Media and
Broadcast Fund, and BC Film. The founding sponsors recognized the importance of a strong association to
the development of the new media industry. Through networking events, advocacy work, and marketing, New
Media BC is building the new media community locally and promoting it abroad. New Media BC currently
represents over 140 member companies, covering all sectors of the new media industry, from video game
development to netcasting. The 130% growth in the association's membership and the record number
attendance levels for its over 30 events over the past year indicates the industry's need for an
organization devoted to its growth and promotion.
The
U.S. Geospatial Intelligence Foundation is a Virginia-based nonstock, not-for-profit corporation
that is applying for a Section 501(c)(3) tax-exempt status. The foundation is dedicated to promoting
the geospatial-intelligence tradecraft and developing a stronger community of interest between
government, industry, academic and professional organizations and individuals who share a mission
focus around the development and application of geospatial intelligence data and geo-processing

Programs
Collaborative Operation Planning System (COPlanS) is joint initiative led by the Canadian Director General of Joint Force Development. The
program is also sponsored by the Directorate of Air Force Requirements, Air Force Command and
Control Information Systems (AFCCIS) and managed by Defence Research Development Canada (DRDC).
Developed primarily by Thales Systems Canada and Neosapiens Inc, COPlanS provides the ability
to plan an operation in a net-centric environment with integrated collaborative tools. COPlanS is
an integrated flexible suite of planning, decision-aid and workflow management tools aimed at
supporting a distributed team involved in the Military Operations Planning Process.

The
Coalition Warrior Interoperability Demonstration (CWID) is a US programme with participation
by Australia, Canada, NATO (SHAPE), New Zealand, and the United Kingdom. Additional participants
in 2005 include South Korea and some of the 'partners for peace' nations.
The role of CWID is to demonstrate and evaluate new, evolving and commercially available low
risk technologies that improve Joint, Combined or Coalition interoperability, or that enhance
C4ISTAR capability and information provision through the use of networked communication Information
Systems (CIS).

As high bandwidth penetration continues to increase and Internet-based applications grow, there is
an accelerating demand for IDELIX's PDT-based Internet solutions. IDELIX partnered through the
GeoInnovations program of
GeoConnections to integrate PDT within an Internet Client. GeoConnections
is a Web-based initiative, led by Natural Resources Canada, to develop the Canadian Geospatial Data
Infrastructure (CGDI). The CGDI is available to users worldwide.

The
SoftCopy Search program sponsored by the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency (NGA) was
established to integrate commercial technology for the imagery analysis task of broad area search.
The program will move the agency from its hardcopy image analysis search and exploitation processes
toward a digitized solution. Established as a two-year development and procurement process, the NGA
expects to implement the softcopy imagery analysis capability into its National System for Geospatial
Intelligence (NSGI) by mid to late 2005.
