WELCOME to the new and improved IDELIX Technology Update! We've changed the layout, added some new sections, and have some cool things planned for the months ahead. Be sure to check out our new Where's Barley? Demo and take a look each month to see where our curious canine is hiding.

We'd like to thank all of you who stopped by our booth at SIGGRAPH 2002 and congratulate the winner of our "Pliable People" contest, Brian Warrington, who is now the proud owner of an MP3 Player. Check out our Funny Faces Gallery.

Good News
It's all good. No bad news here! This section will update you each month on company news from IDELIX.
Case Study Shows +20% Efficiency Gains With PDT!
Case study results are in on the integration of IDELIX™ Software Inc.'s Pliable Display Technology™ (PDT) with Boeing Autometric's SoftPlotter® 4.0 and KDSP™ 1.2 applications and the results are extremely positive for both IDELIX and Boeing Autometric.  Atlantic Air Survey Ltd., a geographic information technology firm using Boeing's products, has reported efficiency gains of at least 20% in their data editing and collection process.

"A 20% labour reduction translates into an extreme competitive advantage in both project turn around times and price offerings. Simply put, the productivity gains achieved as a result of using PDT in our software are tremendous."

-Todd Ham, Boeing Autometric

Technology Update
Here is our meat and potatoes. The Technology Update section will keep you up-to-date with the latest product developments from IDELIX. PLiable Display Technology
SDK Version 2.1 Beta to be released September 30, 2002
- Featuring innovations in 3D viewing and a new Mac OS X Port -

On September 30th, IDELIX Software Inc. will release the latest version of the Software Development Kit for their patented innovation in information visualization, Pliable Display Technology. New product features in SDK Version 2.1 include:

  • PDT 3D & Occlusion Reduction - Occlusion is the obstruction of the viewer's line of sight to inner objects in a 3D model by opaque outer objects. PDT 3D is IDELIX's technology for occlusion reduction providing detail-in-context viewing of 3D information. It is a new, patents-pending application of Pliable Display Technology that acts as a powerful tool for providing non-occluded views in a 3D setting with minimal adjustment of the original structure. PDT 3D provides an alternative to cutting planes, transparency, or information filtering.
Check out the prototype for PDT 3D and send us your feedback.

  • New Mac OS X Port - PDT is a platform independent technology and our dev team is continually working to ensure that ports are available for all major operating systems.
Beta Testers Wanted!
Interested in joining IDELIX's Beta Testing program? If you work for an OEM or Systems Integrator and are interesting in beta testing the PDT SDK Version 2.1, email us at beta@idelix.com.

New Demos

Where's Barley? Demo

Meet IDELIX's CTW (Chief Tail Wagger), Barley.

You found Waldo, now it's time to find Barley using PDT. Each month we'll post a new "Where's Barley" image with IDELIX's favorite canine waiting to be found.

Coming soon... New demos for Mac users and a new PDT 3D demo. Look for these demos September 30, 2002 or view our current demos at www.idelix.com/pdtdemos.shtml.

Function Junction
Each month we will explore a different function of PDT, give helpful tips, answer common asked questions. If you have a question you'd like us to address in Function Junction, please send us an email and we'll do our best to address it in the next issue.

This month we are going to explore the functionality available in our PDT 3D Prototype demo. If you are like us and never read instructions this one is going to challenge you. Take a minute to read the following tips and then have some fun with the latest in PDT.

Since this is a prototype, your comments are extremely important to us. Good, bad, or inquisitive, we really want to hear from you. Please take a few seconds to email us and tell us your thoughts on PDT 3D.

Cube Display
The outer layer of cubes occlude our vision of the inner elements of the matrix.
Cube Display & PDT
PDT displaces the outer layers of cubes to reveal a target hidden within the matrix. Contextual information is preserved.
